A beautiful city during the day. But is nice to see it lit up at night.

George Grubb Photography Bio

At the age of 10 in 1973, I was given an 8mm movie camera for my birthday, which began a life-long interest in photography. My interests evolved further in high school when I acquired my first 35mm film camera, and as I ventured into college, I would go on to study film during my college summer breaks at the University of Southern California and New York University. Somehow, photography remained a passion and a hobby as my career path ventured down many various paths, from real estate to technology. But again and again, I found myself returning back to the camera. In my post graduate years, I left a real estate career to study film at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, where I obtained an MFA. But soon again, another curve ball landed in my lap as I relocated to Seattle, WA to run a media-oriented dot.com. Upon the successful sale of that business in 2006, my interests in photography resurfaced. It has been during these recent years that I have begun to more fully develop my photography talents, through workshops, field study and the opportunities to study alongside notable photographers such as Art Wolfe, Oliver Klink and Eric Rock. I have also enjoyed my time spent as a member of the New York Park West Camera Club, where we recently wrapped up a 10 day road trip photographing the fall foliage of the Shenandoah and Smokey Mountain National parks. As a resident of New York City now, I find that I am most interested in capturing unique landscapes and wildlife throughout the world, often far removed from the urban experience. As you view my images, I hope you will find a sense of escapism and beauty that move you in some way, if at least for a moment. I have found myself attracted to capturing those places that transcend me into a sense of deeper inner peace. I hope to share with you, a sense of what I have felt along the way.
