Six Years of Waiting Over
Mainland Chinese Audience Member Sees Shen Yun in New York City
Mr. Wang arrived in the U.S. six months ago. After waiting more than six years, he finally saw Shen Yun Performing Arts in New York last night.
He says one of the lead male dancers left the biggest impression on him.
[Wang Beiij, University Executive Director]:
"Seeing Mr. Chen Yongjia dance I was stunned! I had seen a short on-line introduction, but today I was lucky, really very lucky, to be so close— in the first row, to see him dance. It was very, very stunning— It’s very, very perfect. Personally I think that Chen Yongjia's performance, the energy is very, very powerful.”
In Mainland China, Shen Yun’s performance is banned by the communist authorities. Shen Yun fans however, circulate DVDs of the performance at their own risk, allowing Chinese people to view their own traditional culture.
[Wang Beiij, University Executive Director]:
"Tonight I was pondering, how can Shen Yun’s performance be so perfect? Is it proving that atheism is wrong? Is evil? [I think] there are gods helping this performance, and behind it there is the efforts of many [people], a lot of hard work. So looking beyond the performance, from the cultural perspective, the atheist point of view is completely wrong. It is also evil. Our 5000 years of divinely imparted culture, is perfect, and beautiful. It’s really great.”
Wang Beiij hope his countrymen seize an opportunity to see Shen Yun.
[Wang Beiij, University Executive Director]:
"I still have another impression, that is, we have this 5000 years of divinely-imparted culture Shen Yun tour. The place that really needs it the most is Mainland China, in Mainland China. I am also so happy to see that there are three groups touring around the whole world. In fact, now many Mainland Chinese are travelling the world frequently, I hope they can grasp the opportunity when they are travelling overseas, when they get a free moment to see Shen Yun. "
