Chinese netizens feedback on concession speech by Tsai Ing-Wen

When Taiwan's general election was over, Ma Ying-Jeou’s victory was widely supported by the general public in mainland china. Nevertheless the remarks of the democratic progressive party's (dpp) chairwoman and presidential candidate Tsai Ing-Wen were widely circulated  online by chinese netizens. the following are some comments regarding her remarks.

Topku: I applaud Tsai Ing-Wen's speech. this hakka lady’s charm and momentum were really very powerful. During her speech she was so confident and without any typical political arrogance as evidenced by this quote, “Taiwan cannot do without a contradictory voice. Taiwan cannot do without checks and balances. You can cry, but don’t be frustrated; you may feel sad, but never give up, because tomorrow will come. We should continue to be as brave as we used to be during the past four years, with our hearts full of hope.”

Fan Xiaochun: Though both of the candidates had prepared scripts displayed on a teleprompter, Tsai Ing-Wen really made a great speech. Judging by her speech, her charm and enthusiasm greatly exceed Ma Ying-Jeou's.

Shadow on lake: Tsai Ing-Wen is glorious although she was defeated due to her denying the 1992 consensus. Of course Taiwan cannot exist without an opposition voice. Taiwan cannot go on without a balance of power. All democratic countries are this way. How many more years do we need before we catch up with other democracies?

Mi Xiaoxue: Instead of going to Ma Ying-Jeou's victory rally to listen to his speech, I went to listen to Tsai Ing-Wen's remarks, because I believe that losers tend to speak more sincerely. The most touching words she said to her supporters were, Tonight we are so sad here. You may cry, but don't feel frustrated; you may feel sad, but never give up. One day we will make a comeback.

Black river a-zhu: Twenty days ago i had a dream in which Ma Ying-Jeou won, but I never dreamt that Tsai Ing-Wen's supporters would shed so many tears because of her defeat. If they do not give a complete and final solution to the issues caused by Chen Shuibian and about the relationship with mainland China, the same thing will happen again in four years.

Blue star: Taiwan cannot survive without an equally strong opposition party! We still have a future! I know we are all very sad tonight. If you are sad, you can vent it and you can cry, but you cannot give up! We will wake up filled with hope tomorrow morning!

Andysui: Tsai's speech was very moving. She is a politician who can shoulder the weight, but Song has been defeated 4 times, and he did not resign as party chair. The one who failed to run for the mayor of Taipei wanted to be the president of Taiwan. Isn't this a joke on himself?
