The Value of Education
First, let’s have a look at our Chinese University students, what are they doing? The classrooms are empty, as the students have been organised by the Youth league to welcome the HK film star Mr. Tony Leung for the performance in the city.
So let’s compare the University students of the U.S. and China. At the beginning of 2011, Yale University was hit by several large scale snowstorms. In order to commence the new term as scheduled, more than 50 professors didn’t go home for several days. Some of them were allowed to stay on campus, while others lived in nearby hotels using their own money. The result was that in the midst of the snow, the 50 courses commenced as scheduled with no absence in any of them. Would this scene help you understand the reason for the U. S. being so powerful?
In China the duty of the students is to perform for the leaders. It was said that there were two primary students who swallowed highly toxic pesticide in the classroom. The words they left on the blackboard were:” If I pass away, it would be the fault of our math teacher, please request the policemen to arrest her ….”
The Minister of Education in China should resign and apologise to the Chinese parents?
The economic development in China is the second in the world. This No 2 status is really something. The Chinese government collected the taxes for the 12 months in the first ten months, and the tax revenue of this year is expected to exceed ten trillion Yen. The money the government used to buy cars exceeds ¥800 billion, with an average annual rate of over ¥ 10 billion. However, how much increase did the government spend on education? There is a principle of a primary school of Chong Qing city who put ¥ 370,000Yuan in his own pocket without feeling shame.. However, students have to crowd into a small school bus to go to school. A few accidents happened because the school bus was overweight. Students’lunches were found in some cities to be left over vegetables from the market to provide to schools. Do you think that the students’ safety can be guaranteed?
The biggest failure of China is the failure in education. However, it is the greatest success for the officials in power. What the government needs is political stability, that is China’s primary political goal. For the current domestic situation in China, Mr. Chai Jing said: ‘The poor are patriotic Chinese who are taught to love their country. The rich Chinese love overseas; officials in power are selling the official positions, while the rich are buying those positions. The most powerful ones in China are making full use of resources to satisfy their greed, while the top in China are selling territories to Russia. China seems to be getting strong. Chinese people however are having less confidence and more riots. Last year over one hundred thousand riots took place in the mainland.”
During the time of using waste oil for cooking oil, the people had to suffer even knowing that it was toxic. When a fire broke out in a school auditorium, the school leaders got out first while asking children in the building to remain calm and wait till they left. “Little Yue yue” was run over by cars twice with 18 passers-by who didn’t care at all.
After considering all these things, I realised that the education in China, no matter from what angle, is a failure. Then who is to blame for this failure? I just can’t understand how those selfish people who just focus on their personal interest and gain over others, can take control of education. They kill our education in the end and make all parents despair.
